Classic example of how I'm like eight years late on things sometimes #634: Season 1 of Dexter is really thoroughly kicking my ass, and I've still got the last episode of it to go.

Bizarre dream that apparently happened in between 8:15 and 8:30 this morning: I was editing a status making fun of how Cat Power (the songwriter) always posts on Facebook in all caps and how she comes off as a 6th grader for doing so. "Get off your ass, you haven't put out a real album since 2004." Never mind that You Are Free (which I think she said in the dream she wrote all of with Jeff Tweedy) was released in 2003 and she's put out three albums since then (none of which I've heard), and I haven't exactly put out an album since 2005.

Character In My Brain #46: "So I'm not quite convinced of Firefly's greatness just yet but I guess that Captain character played by Nathan Fillon is pretty cool."
Character In My Brain #17: "Wait, you've been thinking that his name is 'Fillon' the whole time? It's 'Fillion', dumbass."
Character In My Brain #29: "Haha, remember that time he thought Ian Gillan was Ian Gillian in the late 90's? That was funny."

Dear Community: Really sorry for losing touch with you after the first 3 seasons. I'll get around to those last 2, and if that movie ever gets made I'm there. I won't forget Remedial Chaos Theory and that first paintball episode are among my favorite things I've seen on TV.

Just browsing scorecards I still have saved from 25 Phillies games I went to, mostly from 2002-13 except for a 1997 game against the Cubs. Lots of Asperger's Syndrome stats I could throw out here. :P

Physical Illusion lyric of the day: "David Crosby got turned into a horse because he couldn't do better than 'Mind Gardens' / he had the nerve to complain to Roger McGuinn about the inclusion of 'My Back Pages' when his song was a piece of shit."

I need a new stage last name. Casey Brennan suggested Nick Cactus a couple months back, but that sounds more like a guy who would be the complete opposite of me. A 6'4" truck driver from Oklahoma who's awesome at directions, fixing and building things, getting into intellectual debates and eating adventurously.

Hey, I'm playing a show at The Subpar Bar (22nd and Walnut) on April 31st. Also playing are The Antisocial Mystics, Enough With The Snowstorms and The Scary Janitors. No cover!

Time to start keeping a journal again, maybe of the "write a series of emotional letters to an imaginary friend of some sort so I can actually articulate my thoughts and feelings in conversation" variety.

I got told yesterday at work, "You look like the guy who won Best Supporting Actor." Why, of course I had to look it up because my brain is still frozen in 1993 when it comes to movies. I need to fix that... :P

I'm amused by the idea of a 57 year old Peter Buck putting out a vinyl only solo album called I Am Back To Blow Your Mind Once Again

Sunday, February 23, 2014

Finally got around to hearing David Bowie's hilariously fake and tacky sounding 80's low point Never Let Me Down in full (completism!), and now the profile of this OKCupid girl I once came across who looked like Sharon Osbourne is instantly coming to my mind. Paraphrasing: "If you can like, love or at least tolerate NLMD we may be good. It's my must listen to every day album." Bear in mind this is an album whose title track sounds like what would happen if John Lennon got Rickrolled in 1987, and that's a *highlight* on there. I think there might be a fictional character idea here...

Random thought of the day: Anyone born this year will only be 8 years older than George Jetson in 2062, the year The Jetsons is supposed to take place. Yup, time's going fast. :O

That post-Super Bowl episode of New Girl with Prince was better than the actual game. Zooey Deschanel, I love you.
