One of the most awkwardly timed moments of my TV show cycle: seeing the House season 4 finale Wilson's Heart today on Christmas. That has to be one of the 10 most depressing episodes of any show ever, right? I really should have watched something comic immediately afterwards.

So that Deerhunter show turned into quite the interesting train wreck (in a good, fun way) near the end. When I was first getting into them shortly after Halcyon Digest came out, I assumed Bradford Cox would be one of those super quiet introvert frontmen that didn't say much onstage, but OH WOW would that insanely rambling 20-30 minute segment of stage banter in between the final encore songs (the last of which, "Monomania", was a request where he spent several minutes trying to figure out the right chords) prove my 2011 self wrong, haha. I'm still trying to process all that and I'm glad I recorded it. Fun show overall. Also, between the main Deerhunter set and Bradford's solo Atlas Sound set, every effects pedal ever invented must have been used.

Feeling in major need of a social life rebuild / overhaul right now and that if I could just get that going, life would be so much more awesome. I've been alone with my thoughts far too long, which is just not a good place to be when I'm currently so frustrated with my job on top of that. I need to maybe organize a small scale gathering, get together more with certain Facebook friends (it would be particularly cool to reconnect with intriguing people I haven't seen in years or only met once or twice), go on a very long overdue dating spree... just anything to get me going. It's just such a struggle for me initiating things at all socially and I'm always battling insecurity over how much of an awkward mess I am.

Astoundingly stupid fantasy football move of the season: starting the Eagles defense on my team two weeks in a row instead of the Panthers defense. Ugh. In my defense, (a) Yahoo had the Eagles D projected higher and they've scored a bunch of touchdowns in the past, (b) I got away with it last week and still won my matchup anyway and (c) fandom.

My Dan the Serious Businessman side: "Let me guess, Blindspot. Your 10th episode will feature yet another big shootout that Jane and Kurt somehow survive unrealistically. This show should be called Patterson anyway, because she's like the only happy blonde forensics expert character in a sea of mopey faces. I hear she's single now..."

Looks like The Accidental Flash totally killed it in fantasy football for me this week leading the league with 133.24 points, and that was with Philip Rivers' 28.12 points on the bench. DeAndre Hopkins - 26.80, DeMarco Murray - 18.30, the Eagles defense - 19, Brandon Marshall - 15.10, Russell Wilson - 18.94, DeMayrius Thomas - 11.10... not bad at all.

I also wish I could retroactively go back in time and ask myself every day what my day rating would be at the end. If I had to guess, I'm suspecting 1991 would be the so called best year of my life and 1997 would be the worst. 2015 is kind of becoming a top 5 contender for the worst at this point. I'm LONG overdue for a top 5 best.
I keep thinking about what my pick for the greatest year in music was ever since WXPN started that poll, and doing a quick rough count of albums I would give a high 8/10 or better to (or at least did when I went through listening to my whole collection in 2010-11), it looks like my gut was right about 1971, with 1967 and 1969 pretty much tied for second, it seems. Not positive if '71 has any of my top 20 (though Who's Next might make the bottom end of it), though wow.. it seems to have the biggest volume of excellent albums, and probably quite a few I haven't discovered yet.

Watching the last 10-15 minutes of Orange Is The New Black season 2 episode 12 as that storm was just happening = intense.

Hey, that Max Scherzer guy who just threw a no hitter (and a one hit, 16 strikeout game before that, to boot) is on one of my fantasy teams! No wonder I'm first in the league in strikeouts, ERA and WHIP.
